群馬県 Gunma

由来

「群」の古字を中心に置き、その周囲に上毛三山（赤城山・榛名山・妙義山）を配した図案。県庁舎の建設を機に県民から公募した案をもとに作られ、1926年（大正15年）10月1日に告示された。

Origin

An archaic form of the kanji 群 (gun), the first character of Gunma, sits at the center, surrounded by the three famous mountains of Jomo — Mt. Akagi, Mt. Haruna, and Mt. Myogi. The design was created from entries submitted by residents when the prefectural office building was constructed, and was officially announced on October 1, 1926.
