Emblem of Tottori

Origin

The prefectural emblem was established on October 23, 1968, as part of a project commemorating the Meiji Centennial. It depicts a flying bird shaped into the hiragana と (to), the first syllable of Tottori, expressing freedom, peace, and progress toward Tottori's future. The name Tottori itself begins with the kanji 鳥, meaning "bird."
