鳥取県 Tottori

由来

県章は、明治百年を記念する事業として1968年（昭和43年）10月23日に制定された。飛んでいる鳥の姿を、鳥取県の頭文字である平仮名の「と」の形にデザインしたもので、自由と平和、そして鳥取県の明日への発展を表している。

Origin

The prefectural emblem was established on October 23, 1968, as part of a project commemorating the Meiji Centennial. It depicts a flying bird shaped into the hiragana と (to), the first syllable of Tottori, expressing freedom, peace, and progress toward Tottori's future. The name Tottori itself begins with the kanji 鳥, meaning "bird."
