Nara 奈良県
Origin
Established by prefectural notice No. 536 of March 1, 1968. The emblem stylizes the katakana ナ (na), the first syllable of Nara: the outer circle represents the nature of Yamato, the storied 'mahoroba' (a classical word for a beautiful, ideal land); the inner circle the spirit of harmony expressed in the maxim 'harmony is to be valued'; and the horizontal axis the ceaseless progress of the prefecture's administration.
