Emblem of Kagoshima

Origin

Chosen through a public contest and established on March 10, 1967. The Satsuma and Ōsumi peninsulas are stylized into a circular form — with an indentation where Shibushi Bay lies — and Sakurajima, the symbol of the prefecture, is represented by the red disc at the center. The prefectural flag depicts the emblem as is.
