鹿児島県 Kagoshima

由来

デザインは公募（一般の人が応募）によるもので、1967年（昭和42年）3月10日に制定された。薩摩半島と大隅半島を円形に図案化し（志布志湾に当たる部分が凹んでいる）、県の象徴とされる桜島を中央の赤い丸で表している。県旗も県章をそのまま図示したものである。

Origin

Chosen through a public contest and established on March 10, 1967. The Satsuma and Ōsumi peninsulas are stylized into a circular form — with an indentation where Shibushi Bay lies — and Sakurajima, the symbol of the prefecture, is represented by the red disc at the center. The prefectural flag depicts the emblem as is.
