京都府 Kyoto

由来

現行の府章および府旗は日本国憲法の公布30周年を記念し、公募により選定されたデザインを基にして1976年（昭和51年）11月2日に制定された。古都の格調高い土地柄を表す六葉の中に人型を象った「京」を配置し、府民のまとまりと力の結びつきを表現している。

Origin

The current emblem and flag were adopted on November 2, 1976, commemorating the 30th anniversary of the promulgation of the Constitution of Japan, based on a design selected through a public competition. Inside a six-petaled figure representing the dignified character of the ancient capital, the kanji 京 (kyō, "capital"), the first character of Kyoto, is rendered in the shape of a human figure, expressing the unity and combined strength of the prefecture's residents.
